Continuum's advocacy/Legislative priorities

In order for the state to succeed in eradicating homelessness in Vermont, changes must be made in the allocation of resources, development of housing policy, and provision of social services. The statewide Continuum has adopted the principles and advocates for the completion of the state's Interagency Council's 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness.

In addition, the continuum periodically votes to support other legislative and policy initiatives:

2008 Vermont Legislative Priorities: VCEH adopted the VT Affordable Housing Coalition's legislative priorities as its own with particular focus on four items: 1. Increase funding for homeless shelters and services; 2. Adequate funding and program changes for the EA/GA program; 3. Support creative models of supportive housing; and 4. 2007 State Legislative Wrap Up: This summary of the 2007 state legislative session was written by VT Affordable Housing Coalition (VAHC) consultant Erhard Mahnke. VT Affordable Housing Coalition 2007 Legislative Priorities: The VT Affordable Housing Coalition has endorsed the attached priorities for the 2007 VT State Legislature. The VT Coalition to End Homelessness voted to endorse these priorities on February 20th.
